Limeuil en Périgord The site of Limeuil has been lived in since prehistoric times (various artefacts dating from approximately 10,000 BC have been found). Limeuil, listed as « One of the Most Beautiful Villages of France », is essentially a medieval village as the three fortified gateways and ruins of the castle and ramparts testify. On the edge of the village is a museum garden where different plants and methods of cultivation take the visitor a journey through time from the Stone Age to the Renaissance period. The natural beauty spot formed by the bend in the river offers a superb view. he Dordogne is a department of the south-west of France, situated in the Aquitaine region. The Dordogne department is spread across the Périgord plateau. In the east it is a raised limestone plateau and dips in the west to the Saintonge and Guyenne plains. Many rivers run through the Dordogne : the Bandiat, the Dronne, the Isle, the Auvezere, the Dordogne, the Vezere and the Dropt. The Landais and the Double forests cover the west of the department. The Perigord countryside is therefore very varied. The chief town of the department is Perigueux, and the three major subdivisions of the department are headed by Bergerac, Nontron and Sarlat-la-Caneda. Land of troubadours, of authors and personalities such as Montaigne, La Boétie, Fénelon, Eugène le Roy and André Maurois. The agriculture is also very varied. The north is dominated by cattle breeding, whereas the majority of the department mixes crops (cereals and tabacco) and breeding. A partir de Bergerac : Prendre direction Sarlat (D 660) jusqu’au Buisson de Cadouin, puis direction Le Bugue ( D 31 E). à 5 Km prendre sur la gauche direction Limeuil. Dans Limeuil prendre sur la droite (D 31) direction Le Bugue. A 500 mètre après une chapelle prendre sur la droite. A partir de Sarlat : Prendre la direction Bergerac (D 703) jusqu’au Buisson de Cadouin, puis direction Le Bugue ( D 31 E). à 5 Km prendre sur la gauche direction Limeuil. Dans Limeuil prendre sur la droite (D 31) direction Le Bugue. A 500 mètre après une chapelle prendre sur la droite. A partir de Périgueux : Prendre direction Sarlat, Le Bugue ( D 710) jusqu’au Bugue. Dans le Bugue (à la caserne des pompiers) prendre sur la droite) direction Limeuil sur 3 Km, puis suivre le fléchage. A partir de Montignac : Suivre la D 706 jusqu’au Eyzies, puis direction Le Bugue ( D26). Dans Le Bugue suivre Périgueux, à la caserne des pompiers tourner sur la gauche direction Limeuil sur 3 Km, puis suivre le fléchage.
