About the campsite
Glorious holiday. Peaceful holiday. That's Bjerge Sydstrand Camping – set in a beautiful natural area. At Bjerge Sydstrand, the campsite is still run as it was in the "good old days" – here, traditions are kept alive with hugely popular shared activities, such as dining at the long table, barbecues and music in the evening.
The campsite lies on a pretty, child-friendly swimming beach, where you can also fish directly from the shore. If you prefer put-and-take fishing, there are several options nearby.
The largest town nearby is Kalundborg – which is definitely worth a visit. Here you will find a number of impressive historic buildings, the remains of Kalundborg Fortress and the foundations of the square tower from the time of Valdemar Atterdag. There is also the five-towered church, which was probably built in the early 13th century by the daughter of Esbern Snare.
However, Kalundborg is not only of historical interest, but also a lively shopping town with pedestrian zones with plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants.
If you fancy a slightly longer outing, you can take a trip on the historic train from Høng to Gørlev, and the park Birkegårdens Haver in Ruds Vedby is worth a visit for anyone who is interested in flowers. The park also has a playground for children.
